Wood Options

Stairs an be created from almost any type of wood you wish. We can make stairs to match existing floors or new ones in a renovation project using the same hardwood or similar. The same can be done to coordinate with laminate flooring.

The most commonly used wood for building stairs with a stained finish, is red oak due to it's versatility, availability, and cost. Other frequently used species are white oak and maple. Some less used include hickory, birch. walnut, exotics such as padauk, jatoba, purple heart, zebra wood, and reclaimed woods like elm and hemlock.
